White wine. Granache, Viignier, & Rousanne. Excellent. — 9 months ago
Wine spent 12 months in French oak (40% new), a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 6% Merlot. Ruby with ripe fruit aromas and sweet spice notes. On the palate tart cherry and plum flavors with cacao and touch of chewy leather notes. Good acidity and balance with smooth integrated tannins, resulting from winemaker giving grapes more hang time to gain full maturity and ripeness. Lingering ending with fruit character, should age well. Nice, small production. — 7 years ago
2015 vintage. Claire Villars and Gonzague Lurton started in Chalk Hill with the 2012 vintage. This 2015 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (74%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and the remainder Merlot. A bit oaky on first impact, but the fruit is more present the next day so decanting is recommended. Slightly jammy black fruit, with good acidity and length. A very good wine, if not in the same league as Ferrière (and more expensive, at least here in Bordeaux). An estate to watch nevertheless. — 3 years ago

Persimmon and stone fruits. Unlike any wine I have tasted . Incredibly fragrant with a subtle strength that suggests it will age for decades to come. Love it. — 7 months ago
