Wow this one caught me off-guard. The nose is quite intense with cherry, an earthy thing, some hay, some plum and some leather notes too. The palate is a fruit bomb too! This is very concentrated with big bright cherry notes, a very broad palate, a nice soft mouthfeel, some electrifying tannins kicking in in the rear, disturbing the force of the mouthfeel by adding a bit of an edge. The finish is long and fruity and edgy and there is a tiny salty, meaty note showing up in the very last moments. This is long and broad and very concentrated for a common beaujo that retails at about 10 USD (taking into account the current exchange rate of 1 USD ~ 1 EUR). This clearly overdelivers — 2 years ago
I just love a 100% viognier.... oh and a rare white Beaujolais mash up! Delicious, lighter less oily style. Honey-suckle and juicy apricot, zippy acidity. — 8 years ago
