Spinifex is a boutique producer based in the Barossa Valley and run by Peter Schell who is a New Zealander. This shows red and blue fruits with herbal notes. One of those wines I think is best drunk young when it is fresh and vital. This is very good but personally I prefer McLaren Vale, particularly Blewitt Springs for Grenache. — 3 days ago

Another candidate in the 41 wine lineup at the Downs Club tasted blind. Unlike many of the other candidates which had ripe black fruits from 2018, this had notes of dried meat and charcuterie. Ja man, it's Schell Mann! 2006 was apparently a good vintage in the Thermenregion. Fred Loimer's PN is showing well eight years on, complex and brooding, but with those high- tone notes one gets with Austrian Pinot. — 11 years ago
