3rd in my case of 12. Fabulous pinot. Night after the Gibbston Valley China Terrace, which is big bold, dark and brooding. This is all of that but with more finesse and savoury grip. Not to the point of Burgundian elegance, but very true to the spirit of pinot. Balanced and silky mouthfeel. Big sour cherry and sandalwood explosion if acid and grip. This will run and run. Amazing. — 4 months ago
Cran-grape-blackberry sensibility with dark roast coffee undertones, milk chocolate, carnation, caramel, dried parsley, carrot purée. Palate is coffee coated black currant, chicory, dried blackberry, bramble, cedar, tight and green oak notes, violet, baseball glove, tart cherry, tart raspberry and raspberry reduction. Rich offering here to satisfy the lofty spirit, but needs time to coalesce.
Pair with warm fires.

E&M Weissburgunder goes feral beyond their trademark restrained wild spirit.
4 days of skins, it's copper tones, grippy, and full of acetone. And it's really good. Wild but grown up, responsible.
Expressively generous aromas loaded up with sour fruit and vinegar - naval orange, apricot, basil, and VA that tickles the back upper parts. Powerful long flavors too - sour apricot, pear, and sweet orange. Wonderful. — 5 days ago
RS is raw elegance, not quite the wild spirit of Slatnik. An aromatic trip with two keys, sequential amplitudes, each time you go in, on repeat.
The basic level is bing cherries, prune, game, and brown leather. Some chauffeur, maybe alcohol, lifts this to a more interesting, brighter red strawberry, cedar, rose petal, acetone profile.
Elegant, concentrated integrated post nasal happenings too. Soft texture wraps and protects against high acid chalky minerals, grippy tannins. Dried strawberry plumb finish. — 4 months ago
Delightful. Baked bread honey and almond. Paired with caviar. — 5 months ago
Awesome wine with the owner Cyril Chappellet.
Beautiful 2012 Prichard Hill Cab.Brambly red fruits, cedar, little smoke, and sultry tannins leading to a nice long finish. Smooth and jammy in texture. Nicely structured and layered. With secondary notes of chocolates espresso and slight tobacco. Oops a little too much fun that evening! He was there in spirit. Just edited rating with Cyril’s name. — 2 months ago
Very Soft apple cider. Maple wood, the “milk” in milk chocolate, not the “lavender” in lavender, but the “milk” of lavender? Whatever it is, there is like a floral or herbal substance or spirit animating the flavour that’s carried by the “milk chocolate”. Some kind of cucumberism?
Lots of complexities to this despite being a red blend. I guess, maybe that explains the encompassing or hard-to-nail flavours. It’s an archetype or an ensemble rather than something singular. That said it’s got plenty of personality. — 3 months ago
