Vermentino

Palmalias Vermentino di Sardegna 2023
Sardegna DOC – Sardinia, Italy 🇮🇹

Overview
Made from 100% Vermentino, this wine showcases Sardinia’s coastal identity with freshness, minerality, and Mediterranean charm. Vermentino here benefits from sea breezes and granite soils, which give it its hallmark salinity and zest.

Aromas & Flavors
Bright citrus (lemon, lime), green apple, white peach, and hints of Mediterranean herbs. There’s a subtle floral lift (honeysuckle, chamomile) and a salty, almost seashell-like minerality.

Mouthfeel
Light to medium-bodied, crisp, and vibrant. The acidity is refreshing yet balanced, giving it an elegant, breezy texture and a clean, saline finish.

Food Pairings
Perfect with grilled prawns, linguine alle vongole, roasted sea bass, or fresh goat cheese. It also pairs beautifully with pesto pasta or Sardinian bottarga (cured mullet roe).

Verdict
An approachable yet authentic Sardinian Vermentino, sunny, refreshing, and packed with coastal personality. A perfect example of why Vermentino is gaining fans worldwide as a go-to Mediterranean white.

Did You Know?
Vermentino is the star white grape of Sardinia, though it’s also found in Liguria, Tuscany, Sicily, even in Piedmont (known as Favorita) and Corsica. On the island, it thrives near the sea, locals say you can “taste the breeze of the Mediterranean” in every glass. 🌊🍋

Cannonau di Sardegna 2017

Chalk meets raspberry without the cough syrup grittiness you usually get with that combo. It’s smooth with light tannins, yet still grips the side of the tongue with old leather and green apple skin. Nice and complex and lasting for such an inexpensive bottle. — 4 years ago

Palmalias Cannonau di Sardegna 2015

Translucent Ruby red color and full bodied. Dark bramble fruit with light notes of leather and earth leading to a smooth moderately tannic finish. Tasty, hefty red. Good on it's own, but better with food. Will pair well with a good BBQ or flame grilled steak. Great value. — 8 years ago
