Welcome to the weekend. We are starting to wake from our long slumber 4 months and things are starting to transition back to some assemblance of normalcy. Tonight I have opened the 2014 Cuvelier Los Andes Colección from the Valle de Uco of Mendoza, Argentina. The blend is 68% Malbec, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.
On the nose there is dark ripe cherry, blackberry, ripe plum, black currant, fig, black licorice, cocoa, sweet tobacco and earth.
The palate shows black cherry, blackberry, plum, green bell pepper, licorice, dark chocolate, tobacco, oak and earth.
This wine is full bodied with a velvety and unctuous mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + crunchy tannins that lead right into a long earthy black fruit finish. I hope everyone is well and healthy, please stay safe and have a great weekend. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — a day ago
Delicious earthy and mushroom nose but a fruit forward and alcohol taste on the tongue. Opens up deliciously. Love this wine. — a month ago
A delicious blend of mostly Malbec, Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon. The Malbec initially takes center stage with classic aromas of black cherry, raisin, & sweet tobacco. Full bodied on the pallate but the Merlot definitely mellows the wine as it has medium well integrated tannins along with flavors of blackberry, baking spices & vanilla. aired nicely with NY strip streaks & grilled asparagus! We recently pulled some cases out of storage, which haven't seen the light of day for nearly 15 years, so I'll have some fun posts in the next several months.
Nose has split oak firewood (barely seasoned), cigar box, moist cedar shavings, blackberry, dried black currant, dried roses, fresh violets, moist leather, dried lavender dark chocolate powder and graphite pencil shavings.
Palate has chocolate covered blackberry, tarry black cherry, cedar sawdust, dark chocolate bark, prune, anise candy, clay pot and leather. Very long finish, subtle tannins exist still, amazing wine!
Cork pulled, 2h rest, then decanted 6h, a perfect bottle, still young, future bottles may be 2023-30, without concern.

Perfect pair to homemade burgers from a local farmer in Columbia Co. NY (Kinderhook Farm), cooked to a beautiful medium-rare served on toasted brioche burger rolls. — 2 days ago
Deep red purple in the glass with an opaque core. Inviting nose of blackberry compote. Full-bodied palate of blackberry, black plum, and cocoa covered black cherry. Medium acidity. Medium tannins. Medium long finish. A New World Malbec that could match Old World dishes. Ready for burgers, prime rib, and all in between. Drink now through 2024. — 18 days ago
