Every time I have a Morlet Chardonnay, I wonder why I don’t enjoy them more often.
Pop and pour and 100% open for business. It has this unique toasted marshmallow aromatic that I always associate with Marcassin (funny enough, this vineyard isn’t too far from Marcassin in Fort Ross Seaview), along with such sweet, juicy tropical fruit like peach and guava, as well as honey roasted cashews. Up front is seems like it’s going to coat the entire mouth, but it fans out in a really elegant profile (sea salt dusted lemon scone, yellow fruits, honeysuckle) with a nice zip of acidity on the finish. Absolutely delicious right now, and I don’t see this getting much (if any) better. — 3 years ago
Just what I love in a wine, smells like soil and fresh herbs, tastes like a dark night in the middle of summer - a bit of smoke and tobacco, and ends rich and tender on the tongue with not a ton of tannin. — 5 years ago
Stone fruits and lighter in weight than I expected. Oak treatment integrated. — 7 years ago
E' buono, ma troppo dolce anche secondo mia moglie. A I miei amici piece bere con ghiaccio. L'ho trovato a Costco. — 8 months ago
Drinking with mom and dad for my last night in MA. Color is beautiful garnet with brown. Nose definitely tells you it is old. The darker red fruit comes in through the nose with earthy and leathery tones. The taste is very much the same, it is juicier than I anticipated, good tannins though and structure. From what I can tell this is very indicative of a Syrah (which makes sense as it is 90% syrah and 10% viogner). Upper Rhone. Definitely would drink again, but it is for decadent moments at $75 for the bottle. — 3 years ago
Very similar to the 2016 I opened 6-8 months ago, yet more open for business. Some of these wines have a reputation for “large and in charge”, but this was supremely balanced, toeing the line between Sonoma and white burgundy with richness. Whereas Aubert’s chards can be more powerful (and is normally my favorite), I’m always pleasantly surprised at how these show.
Aromatically it revealed sugar frosted stone fruits, guava, white peach, caramel dipped golden delicious apples and baking spices. It has a beautifully textured palate that starts as though it’s going to be dense, but finishes with a gorgeous lifted profile and plenty of acidity. Added notes on the palate of powdered lemon bar, floral honeysuckle, whipped lemon cream and even some honey roasted cashews. I’d pop this 2017 before the 2016 with how open it is, but it will cruise another 7-10yrs, easily. — 4 years ago

2022-3 winter. The previous bottle of this I had felt like the most overripe and in-Burgundy-like 2018 I’d tried, and by some margin. I figured some time might help, but have a growing suspicion that my cellar is too cold to really mature wines without multiple decades of wait. So…experiment time. I stored this for a couple of years in the basement but outside the cellar. It’s not a textbook environment, at least for the summer months. Lo and behold, this had loosened up a fair bit, with more expressiveness on the nose too. It was still riper and heavier than it needed to be but was good. Would it have been better with 30 years at 14 degrees? Perhaps, but it’s a near-academic question for me given the prices of burgundy these days. — 2 years ago
What a great wine and producer that I love. Super elegant and classy nose of yellow fruit with a floral side and some lemon zests. The palate shows ripe fruit but with great acidity to support it and balance that along with the nice richness and roundness of the silky and nicely textured palate, lengthy delicious finish too. Served blind, my wife called Meursault or Puligny 1er cru, which would be a great call, as it does feel more like a great Cote De Beaune. 94-95 pts
Quel vin magnifique. 94-95 — 5 years ago

Bought this in Stowe VT. I hope I can find on on MA. Luscious. Sat on the counter for 3 days and was still delicious. — 2 months ago
