Soils are yellow schist and granite. Vineyard altitude 280-380 m. Attractive nose with amarena cherries, raspberries, dark chocolate and Provencal herbs. Concentrated jammy black fruit balanced by tight acidity and a powerful tannic structure. Very good length with retronasal fruit and spices. Abv. 14,5% . Should age well. — 2 years ago

2019 vintage. Another great wine by Antonio Maçanita. 100% unoaked (hence the name "Touriga goes naked") Touriga Nacional from Alentejo. Intensely perfumed, very floral (violets), intertwined with blackberries and black pepper. Juicy blackberries and spices in the mouth with a nice peppery length with retronasal violets. Original and amazing value at 12,50 euro. — 4 years ago
2021 vintage. Note that there is no Touriga Nacional in this wine, it is a blend of 40% Aragonêz, 30% Alicante Bouschet, 20% Trincadeira and 10% Castelão. Fitapreta was the project of young winemaker António Maçanita and the late consultant David Booth ( who sadly died from a heart attack at age 47 in 2012). Maçanita favours minimal intervention, indigenous yeasts and low sulfites. Terrific value, bursting with fruit and spices with a ripe tannic backbone. Aged 50% in stainless steel and 50% in neutral barrels. Abv. 14,5%. — 2 years ago
Portuguese Red Blend (55% Touriga National, 25% Castas de Vinhas Velhas, and 20% Sausao). Big black and red fruit aromas and flavors. Hints of leather, purple flowers, spices and tar. Dark inky color with medium tannins, good balance and a long finish. Bold and concentrated, but not out of control. — 3 years ago
Excellent rose from Portugal. Strawberry notes but dry. Great with a fish dish or lighter bites — 9 months ago
2020 vintage. Mainada Touriga Nacional from the Alentejo winery Mainova. Vinified by António Maçanita and Sandra Sarria. Unoaked. Dark red with purplish rim. Intense perfume with the typical violet of the grape variety mixed with blackberries and spices. Lots of slightly jammy fruit in the mouth while maintaining freshness with soft tannin and good spicy length. — 2 years ago
2020 vintage. A blend of 70% Roupeiro and 30% Antão Vaz, vinified together in amphora by winemakers António Maçanita and Sandra Sárria. Unlike stated by one comment here, this is not oxidative whatsoever. Pear, quince, flowers and a hint of fresh mint. Medium-bodied with juicy white fruit, tight acidity, fresh herbs and very good mineral length. Abv. 12,5%. — 2 years ago
