Gran champagne d'una petita cava, Aubry. Excel.lent. 38€ botiga. — 10 years ago
According to our botiga, this is actually a blend of sumoll, garnaxa, and cab franc. Nevertheless, I’m happy to be continuing our exploration off the beaten path of French clones. Fruit forward with cherries, raspberries, and blackberries dominating. Otherwise fairly light in the way of tannins and alcohol. Good slightly chilled on a hot summer day. A bit spendy by Catalonian standards at 15.90€, but worth it. — 5 months ago
Back in Portugal and loving their wines again! More to come. — 3 years ago
Ripe ripe ripe. Not sure it deserves the 96 PTs from WA but still a pleasure bomb for hedonistic sexpots! — 10 years ago
After having a different, mind-blowingly good Samsó from Empordá, I’ve been on the hunt for another. According to my neighborhood botiga, this is, contrary to Delectable, 100% Samsó (Catala for Carignan). A bit rough around the edges, but nevertheless well-balanced and a good value at 11€. Might due with another year or two of cellaring. — 10 months ago
Soft and velvety, with fruit notes. Berries, jam, and a touch of cassis. Nice nose, wonderful finish. A steal for 19€ (restaurant prices) — 8 years ago

Since moving to Barcelona, I’ve been looking for wines that dare to use varietals that are not the same handful of French clones one sees all over the world. I’m also looking for lighter wines, which my wife prefers. This fit the bill perfectly: 100% Mencía @ 13.5% ABV and highly recommended by the botiga in my barri. Delicate and earthy. Hints of ripe plums and peppercorns. — 21 days ago
