Kidder Family Winery

Dunham/MacLachlan

Pursued by Bear Cabernet Sauvignon

Very nice wine, Everyone liked this one. Maybe 1 notch too spicy for my cab tongue, I preferred the long shadow kidder — 3 years ago

Wiens Family Cellars

Syrah 2014

From southern CA in the Temecula area I was able to try some Wiens wines in a recent CA trip. Grapes from Kidder Vineyard (100% Syrah), Deep red with berry fruit aromas and complex spice notes. On the palate blackberry and black cherry flavors with smoky oak, cacao and cracked pepper notes. Good balance, soft tannins and carrying fruit bring this wine to a lingering finish. Parducci

True Grit Reserve Mendocino Petite Sirah 2004

2004 Mendocino Petite Sirah
This wine is indigo-black. No light is getting through the glass. A whiff shows some black fruit and some serious tar and forest floor. Smoke and leather play a role as well, with a hint of oak spice. As for the palate, don't tell me this is a 13-year-old wine. You can't kid a kidder. The wine is drinking extremely young, and showing its teeth in the tannins. These are jawbreaker tannins that could probably melt a steak by just pouring it on the meat. They do settle down a bit as the glass sits, but don't wait for this do become a “sipper.” Black currant and plums come through vividly, and the finish is long.

Sangiovese 2010

Among the best wines I've had from Amador county! Blend of Brunello and Classico = an intense wine with deep, ripe tannins. Big on the tongue and cheeks with a medium finish. Plums and black cherries compliment a hint of white pepper. Wow! It's rare and I can't believe i skipped Kidder on my last trip! I won't miss this stop again! #kidderfamilywines — 10 years ago
