Pleasantly different wine for me. Rose petal nose, dark sweet plum and black cherry flavor. Age smoothed the tannins a lot, but the acid and profile is good.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Ivo Jeramaz on my last visit to Napa Valley. He's the nephew of winemaking legend, Mike Grgich and has taken the lead in much of the wineries day-to-day operations along with Mike's daughter, Violet. Ivo is a quiet and thoughtful in his speech—and his wines seem to reflect this. The 2012 Merlot is carmine-hued, and is more transparent than most Merlot I've encountered from Napa Valley. It possesses a kind of quiet restraint and lovely finesse with nuanced aromas of red currant, pie cherries, dried herbs and underbrush intertwining fine tannins a tart acidity. 14.0% ABV | Sample

This wine is a real treasure if you can find it. My friend chef Ivo saved this bottle for me to enjoy at his Italian restaurant in Tokyo. It did not disappoint. Really enjoyed this. Would definitely buy it again if I can find it. Hat tip to chef Ivo. — 9 years ago

Non sono un esperto di Chardonnay, bè non sono un esperto di nulla a dir la verità :-P , comunque mi piace molto. Profumo inteso, io ci sento frutta secca e sentori minerali(gesso). In bocca è persistente e i 13,2º si fanno sentire. Tutto sommato un bicchiere tira l'altro quindi lo promuovo e me ne verso un altro. :-D — 12 years ago
