Grottino Di Roccanova, Potenza

Torre Rosano

Grottino di Roccanova Rosso Riserva 2013

This wine comes from one of the smallest DOC in Italy. Only 4 producers.
They traditionally have always aged their wines in the natural grotto they have in their territory.
We are right in spaghetti far west land. Stunning surroundings!
Weird to find sangiovese, cab sauv and Montepulciano only finished off by the local Mavasia Nera, but they said that when they were trying to make the consortium these were the majority of the old vines in the area and they were working very well.
However the wine is excellent, has depth and character and a long life ahead. Quite affordable for the high quality(only €25), problem is to find it. Great find!

Torre Rosano

Grottino di Roccanova Rosso Sangiovese Blend

Incredible and unique. Almost a bubbly mouth feel mixed with blackberry and raspberry. An esoteric wine to be sure but very enjoyable.
