I haven’t been much of a fan of the ‘18 Bordeaux, as a general matter. I’ve found most of the ones I’ve had blocky and lacking elegance. This one is a nice surprise. The nose is fresh, showing pure, ripe cassis and dark berry fruit, along with a note of vanilla and some underbrush. On the palate, the fruit hits first and is deep and pure. Then some tacky but not overbearing tannins take hold, and some gravelly/minerally flavors come into play. Almost a Graves like cigar box thing, but more subtle. Pleasantly surprised that I’m enjoying this so much. — 2 months ago
Firmly in tertiary territory at first, with mushroom and soy sauce on the nose and palate. After 20 minutes or air time fruit came to life, still with good acidity and chewy tannin. Has plenty of life in in but very tasty right now. — 2 years ago
