Dark and brooding, the flagship 2017 Lady May from Glenelly is effusive from the first pour, with aromas of black cherry, purple herbs, baking spice and chocolate. The palate is distinctly savoury, with a spicy quality that represents quite a contrast from prior vintages. This is an altogether quite serious offering and perhaps lacks the glossy suave character of, say, the 2015, which I prefer at this stage. But this should be absolutely fantastic in around 5-10 years’ time and I can’t wait to try it again. — 4 months ago

This score may be a tad on the generous side, but it was really was an enjoyable bottle of wine. A solid, medium-bodied weeknight blend with notes of red fruit, cocoa, pepper, and a bit of smoke. Very laid-back and kick-ass. 70% Merlot, 30% Shiraz. 4/19/23. — 2 years ago
