A few fun 4th Friday wines from tonight.
My first experience with this zin from Carlisle. When compared to the Linne Calado it shared the tabled with, this was slightly sweeter compared to tart/underripe. 100% Zin. Notes of squeezed boysenberries, candied black cherries, fig, raspberry chocolates jump from the glass. On the palate...wow! So tart! Cran-raspberries, currant, red plum, red sweet-tarts and black cherry preserves coat the mouth in a fairly dense profile. — 6 years ago
Linne Calado is a personal favorite. Very interesting blend here swapping zin for Grenache in the typical gsm/Rhône blend. Had been cellared for two years and could have easily went longer. Thankfully I have two more ha:) — 6 years ago
The aftertaste is really pleasant, initially a little sharp, but then a really nice, warm and rounded aftertaste. Good with red meat and sort of Christmassy 🎅🏼 — 8 years ago

I bought this from barrel tasting at Nickel & Nickel’s luncheon futures, Entrecote En Baguette. Tasted 20 Cabernets and this and the Sori Brico were the two Sofia and I purchased.
Dark currants, medium plus tannins, anise to black licorice, dry leather & tobacco, dry herbs and thick, dark florals that are framed in violets and lavender. — 8 months ago
