Breede River Valley, Western Cape

Hamilton Russell Vineyards

Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Pinot Noir

Great stuff. Smokey nose and quite dark. A classic by now probably my 10th vintage. Dark fruit with cherry undertow. 13.5%. Very Burgundian and a super alternative if you want to avoid the new 25% tariffs coming in October for European wines. Hint of orange zest stems spice black cherry blueberry and flint. Very well made. — 2 days ago

Deep red current color, medium body, dry wine. Faint strawberries & red fruit on the nose. Strawberry spritzer w/ a hint on acid on the fore palate, long velvety, smooth mouth drying finish with cherry jam. No Smokiness in this bottle. (Meditrina Cafe, Valparaiso IN. Falafel appetizer, Beef shawarma- Tim & Paprika Chicken in tomato cream sauce- Paula.) wonderful meal. — a month ago

This wine is now starting to hit its stride and show some nice secondary flavours. Beautiful texture and very refined. Very Burgundian in style. Think Vosne. Love it. — 6 days ago

de Trafford

Elevation 393 Red Blend 2007

This Stellenbosch Cabernet blend gets its name from being 393 metres above sea level. Deep Ruby in colour. Aromas of coal dust, liquorice, Tomato Bush, Capsicum and stalky green Notes. On the palate initial impressions were lacking in fruit. More austere than expected. Certainly very different to most Napa Valley Cabernets that I’ve had. Medium bodied. I bought this wine in 2012 at the cellar door and it was quite the trek to drive to de Trafford over many dirt roads. One of the 1001 wines. — 24 days ago
