This is one of those fun, rare surprises, you never expect it, but then there it is showing itself to you in it's own authentic, pure unadulterated beauty. This wine is superb. Better on the second day, I'd recommend decanting. Extra trocken must have some relation to extra brut, but there was very little residual sugar in this lovely sparkler. — 12 years ago

Pop and pour!
The colour is very dark opaque red, with a dark creamy purple on the edges.
Nose: Right after opening, clear Pinot Noir plus something bordeauesque on the nose (it is Pinot Noir and Regent). After half an hour in the bottle, the alcohol (13,5%) starts to show, along with a bit of graphite and citric zest. It smells like a Bordeaux now, only a very thin layer left that reminds me of Pinot Noir. Nose is not very intense now. Violets.
Palate: Medium+ body with plum and graphite. Tannins are mild and integrated.
Tannins stay the longest in the minute-long finish, next to dark fruit.
Seems like an extremely good value to me. And it doesn't seem too young. No idea as to how well this stores from now, but it's absolutely drinkable now. — 10 years ago

This is the Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and not the Chardonnay. Normally it is a blend of two clones, but he vinified some separately. This is only the Dijon 777 clone, he also vinified the German F105 to allow comparison. The Dijon 777 is classic floral soft Burgundy, earthy forest floor, dark cherry, bright red berries, beautiful acidity. Tannins are present for structure and flavour, but not astringent or bitter. Reminds me of Chambolle-Musigny. — 4 months ago
