Commis bev pairing, first time drinking Aussie riesling. Aged riesling paired with slow-poached egg yolk, smoked dates, alliums, malt — 4 years ago
2013 vintage. Super-Tuscan blend. Needs 1.5+ hours to decant and then red and blue fruit balances tertiary tar and mineral flavors. Not quite the fruit zing or acid of great Sangiovese but complex and enjoyable. Probably 1-2 years left. $40 at bev shop near Kings in Gillette. — 4 years ago
Celebratory bev for us. Enjoyable for all. Not too dry, not too sweet. Nicely balanced and approachable, very welcoming — 3 years ago

Post-show bev. Goes down easy. It’s that hint o’ green that keeps it flowing. Not too tannic, not too much of anything—which is to say there is enough. Totally pleasant. It’s like watching Sesame Street as an adult. Won’t challenge your brain but will be pleasant and give you, if not the warm fuzzies then at least a bit of alcohol-induced warmth. If I needed four glasses at a Seder I could. Oh wait you wanted real notes? If you didn’t stop reading now.
WSET-ish style:
Eye: medium ruby, thick tears Nose: cherries, huckleberries, a hint of asphalt and a lick of arugula. Palate: dry, medium acid, medium minus tannins, high abv, medium body and flavor intensity, cherry cordial, blueberry pancakes (no maple but vanilla tinged, green pepper, green...apple? Is that a Granny Smith in my merlot? May be. Medium finish. — 6 years ago
Word has gotten around about how obsessed I am with this wine/vintage, so the bev director surprised me with a dessert pour. Same wine, same vintage, but different bottle & a week and a half later. Still a mind blowing wine, though this encounter (bottle had been open a bit longer) leaned more into the crème brûlée, toffee characteristics with less perceptible fresh fruit. Still one of my candidates for best of 2022… — 3 years ago

2016. Well-made but tasting too young and tight at this point. Cherry fruit still finishing tart with decanting. $20 at small NJ bev store, $23-30 elsewhere. — 5 years ago
