One of favorite boutique Napa winery - decanted 2 hours - love the 09, 10 and 12 - not tried the 13 yet - singing in prefect pitch - color is deep red and stunning, smell is intoxicating, taste is with every sip reminding me to smile and the finish is damn right runway model sexy - in honor of @Carl Fischer and the amazing Christmas carol story last night and as a tribute to all delectable folks including the WNH gang - my 2nd seasonal posting is an adaption from Home Alone 2 - "hold it right there - and you respond by saying "this is wine drinkers everywhere" - I say knew it was you as I could smell you near my cellar - you were at my cellar last night and You been drinking with everybody and not always smiling - you been drinking with "Snuffy. Al. Leo. Moe, with the gimpy leg. Cheeks. Boney Bob, Cliff" - you say "I am mistaken and have been not drinking with everybody and when you drink your wine you do smile" - so I say I believe you but tommy gun don't so I going to give to the count of three to pour a glass of wine and start smiling one two and wait you are smiling so keep smiling and Merry Christmas you wine drinking animals!!!! — 8 years ago
Grape skin notes, sugar on the nose. A taste that pops like a bubble. With microdroplets of acidity leaving behind an absence that delights the heart and beckons foe moe. — 9 years ago
The aromas explode out of the glass like the volcano from where these grapes are grown . Ash, spice, leather jacket and cinnamon grab your nose that is reminiscent of Moe leading Curly or Larry around a room. In the mouth a palate that matches its nose. The creaminess that only true old vines can deliver. A complete package of weightless power and concentration. If I had a nit to pick it was that after 3 hours a hint of alcohol creeped in. — 7 years ago
Blind tasting, my notes - in a really nice place, good balance, complexity of aged character, typical of Southern France. Silky tannins with fine developed fruit - prune, blackcurrant leaf, leather, liquorice, black pepper, almost claret-like cigarbox. Has ability to age for a couple moe years. Take a deep breath and you can pick the lavender and then you know this can only be a blend from the south. The only quibble is the slightly short finish than the rest of this elegant wine suggests. Well, beauty is fleeting. £24 — 9 years ago
Ah, the brilliance of R Mondavi using the Fume Blanc moniker. Just a great stand-by go-to wine. Some peach, oak and pear on the nose and tongue. A nice clean crisp wine. Picked up at Costco for $13 so can't beat the pp. Will get some moe to enjoy on a warm Texas summer evening on the patio. Enjoy. — 7 years ago
Don't think Sharon is making this wine any more, and so quite rare now. Really enjoy it's subtle unique tropical flavors. Still have a few moe! — 8 years ago
Stunning at almost 30 years of age. Decanted for an hour or so, opened beautifully. Pipe tobacco, plum, dank pit (Moe the bartender), tons of anise, soft tannins with some grip, holding up incredibly well. I would have guessed mid to late 90's napa cab based on looks and taste... thanks @Matthew Nagy what a treat. — 9 years ago
