Nordes Gin

Really nice, herby piney floral, with a little something extra. Unlike any gin I’ve had, wish I could find it here in the states — 5 months ago

Thinking about Albariños; and my recent visit to this region in Spain 🇪🇸 The Galician climate receives moisture from the Atlantic and is mostly sticky, warm and rainy with rain ☔️ most days during the year. Winters are a bit harsh and cold. The humid, salt air is what this viticultural environment is all about. The mostly white wines made here are highly acidic, with notes of tart, green apple 🍏 and white flowers. This particular wine was enjoyed with a dish of Tile fish at Chef Norman Van Aken’s 1921 Restaurant in Mt Dora, FL. This wine was beautifully complex, round, dry but not overtly so. It was a delicate balance of fruit and earthiness. Sophisticated and elegant. I will look for this one again. — 6 years ago

Nordés

Atlantic Galician Gin

Nordes gin - Galicia Spain. Think about Rias Baixas (green and rainy, much like Ireland) and San Sebastian coastal village, famous for one of the world's most elegant white wines, Albarino.
Then make a base spirit from Albarino grapes, add 11 botanicals and you get a super cool gin. Flavors of fruit, white flowers, (you can almost taste the Mediterranean salty sea air) If your looking for traditional Juniper berry gin..move on.

Rías Baixas Albariño 2016

The canopy system used in the Rias Baxias region of northwest Spain provides for ample aeration and keeps the vines protected from the moist ground which breeds an environment not conducive to support healthy clusters. The Galician climate receives moisture from the Atlantic and is mostly sticky, warm and rainy with rain ☔️ most days during the year. Winters are a bit harsh and cold. The humid, salt air is what this viticultural environment is all about. The mostly white wines made here are highly acidic, with notes of tart, green apple 🍏 and white flowers. Most wines are aged in stainless steel and some see new, French oak for a few months. Then they are aged in the bottle. You can cellar them for up to 5-6 years. The Albariño grape is the most expensive and most difficult to produce in all of Spain. — 7 years ago
