Folias de Baco

Uivo Pt Nat Branco

Hazy pale lemon; medium intensity aromas of pear, Asian pear, green apple, green apricot; dry, high acid, low alcohol, medium body, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas; fruit is quite tart, refreshing for a pet nat — 2 days ago

Vinho Regional Beiras Red Blend 2013

Another vintage featuring the unusual Baga grape (with some Touriga National blended in). Dark color but only medium bodied. Fresh acidity brings forth a bright red and black fruit pallet. Hints of chocolate and dried herbs on the silky finish. Really nice Portuguese red. — 13 days ago

Adega do Salvador

Portal da Calçada Rosé 2020

Crispy but not acidy. Cherry, not much strawberry. Jammy but not chewy.

This is spring right before the buds break.

I think it’s awesome.

Surprisingly good. I was impressed by this. Rich, complex and long. Not too sweet. — 14 days ago

Vinhas Velhas (Branco) Vinho Regional Beiras White Blend 2016

Revisiting this vintage, almost three years since my first review. Truly a stunning wine at this price point. It has developed a honeycomb and golden apple quality that is reminiscent of Loire chenin, and a combination of minerality and richness that suggests Alsace. But enough with the banal comparisons; this stands on its own as an outstanding white from indigenous varieties. A tad volatile, but it works well for the style. Terrific food companion and one of the finest values out there. — 11 days ago

Quinta dos Quatro Ventos Douro Red Blend 2010

Blackberry/Black Cherry/Black Currant aromas and flavors. Impressive structure and slightly chewy (but not oppressive) tannins. Creamy touch of Smokey vanilla and oak on the very long finish. Red blend of Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz. Deep purple color. This one has aged beautifully. Thanks for sharing, Ron B! — 19 days ago

Nose and front of the palate are great. Savory, lemon, melon, grassy, saline, high acidity. But then the flavor just falls off a cliff and disappears. — 7 days ago

Just because it's 25 degrees outside doesn't mean that I cannot enjoy a good glass of port 🔥

Already starting to develop some amber colors and complexity but still has a well defined core of primary fruit. Killer nose of wet cardboard and autumn leaves. I'm now going to sink deep into this bottle 🍷😂 happy weekend everybody

Quinta de Chocapalha

Castelão 2015

First time for me trying the Castelao varietal. Beautifully herbal (chamomile) and floral aromas on the nose. Bright red fruit and herbal flavors. Touch of dark chocolate on the medium finish. Extremely silky tannins. Dry with a perfect level of acidity. Medium purple color and beautifully balanced. Call it: Portuguese Beaujolais! Great find! — 19 days ago
