Poggio Al Tesoro

Poggio al Tufo Rompicollo Toscana Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Dark ruby hue. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, cassis, cherry, earthy, leather, raspberry, and tar. Medium-bodied, with medium tannins and medium-plus acidity. Rounded and smooth on the palate with a long, lasting finish. Complex yet approachable. 60% Sangiovese and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. — 21 days ago

Poggio al Tufo Alicante 2013

Poggio al Tufo is a relatively new estate in the once swampy Maremma in coastal Tuscany. Tommasi, of Amarone fame planted vineyards here in 1997. The Alicante Bouschet grape is new to Tuscany, although getting more popular. This wine is a deep purple in the glass , delivering pepper, black fruits and smoke to the palate. Tannins are still a little harsh so this will benefit from another year or two in the bottle. Interesting wine from this interesting grape.

Not a Vermentino.

Poggio al Tesoro

Meditérra Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

Beautiful rich Super Tuscan for $14.99 at Costco. Ripe blackberry, black plum, plum skin and black cherry dominate with well integrated new French oak, fresh and dried herbs and a bit of fresh turned soil and black pepper. The tannins were a little gritty out of the gate but were well integrated by night two and the wine was nicely balanced between fruit and acid. Good QPR. — 3 years ago

Excellent wine, underpriced for the quality! I visited the vineyards in Tuscany and fell in love for the passion and dedication of the family producing it! — 6 years ago
