Premium Reserve Luján de Cuyo Malbec 2020

Not the best Malbec Ive had, but okay for a grocery store option. Not as sour as most Cali cabs these days. Still a bit tangy for a Malbec. — 21 days ago

This left bank blend has very good dark fruit concentration and nice nuances of earth and oak spices. Medium to full body. Soft, smooth, with sweet silky tannins.
Delicious and easy drinking.

Achával-Ferrer

Quimera Mendoza Malbec Blend 2017

A blend of 50% Malbec, 22% Merlot, 22% Cab Sauv & 6% Cab Franc, aged in French oak 50/50 new & 1 year old, combining fruit from Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruit, earthy and floral spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and tart cherry flavors, with vanilla, licorice, citrus and herb spice. Fine tannins, well balanced long finish ending with tart fruit and a sweet earthy mineral character. Nice! Tasted twice! — 6 days ago

Uno Mendoza Malbec 2017

Rich, opaque garnet coloring and a heady earth, spice and medium berry scent. Yummy black and red berries, light tannins, and an easy acidity. Very, very good. — 5 days ago

Terrazas de Los Andes

Grand High Altitude Vineyards Malbec 2011

Our final lunch in Cairns last Sunday on the waterfront. This wine chosen for the few guys who were having a steak instead of the stellar seafood curry on the menu. No formal notes but a good workmanlike Argentinian Malbec. — 21 days ago

Bodega Catena Zapata

Nicolas Catena Zapata Mendoza Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec 2007

Welcome to the long weekend. Tonight I have opened the 2007 Catena Nicolas Catena Cabernet Sauvignon. From Bodega Catena Zapata Mendoza, Argentina. The blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec and the remainder Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, leather, licorice, vanilla, smokey oak and dark rich earth.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, licorice, leather, cedar, cigar box and earth.

This wine is full bodied yet showing it's age, soft and supple with medium to medium + acidity and medium to medium + mouthcoating grippy tannins that lead s us into a long black fruit and significant earthy finish. This is a great expression of Argentine Cabernet with some good years left in the bottle. Looking forward to this weekend and spending time with family. Have a great weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Octava Bassa Malbec 2013

Bright blue/blackberry aromas with hints of purple flowers. Blueberry fruit on the pallet with notes of vanilla , tobacco, coffee and dried herbs. Not as big and dense as many typical Malbecs. (Bottle Age?). Touch of bitterness on the long and chewy finish. — 17 days ago
