Tinto Rey Tempranillo 2015

She’s a talker....and doesn’t drink Italian wines. But Melissa suggested this one and it hit the spot.
Not very complicated on the nose and the right amount of dry.
This ‘top 10’ wine bar held up to its 15 score.

Gaja

Gaia & Rey Langhe Chardonnay 2017

150+ years ago Giovanni Gaja opened small restaurant in Barbaresco, making wine to complement his food. 1859, he founded the Gaja Winery. Winery has been shaped by that of Angelo Gaja. Pale lemon color, Chardonnay aged for 8 months in oak, aromas of rich stone and tropical fruits with notes of honeysuckle. Palate shows crisp pear, apple and peach flavors with vanilla and a citrus tang. Long finish, bright acidity ending with fruit, oak and mineral notes. Needs cellaring to bring it together. Pricey, but Nice! — 2 months ago

Diego de Almagro Reserva Tempranillo 2011

Pretty good. Can tell is expensive bc of how smooth and consistent it is. Pretty dry, wouldnt necessarily buy again over a zin but def good. Would go well with something sweet and savory like bbq ribs. — 5 months ago

Robledo Family Winery

El Rey Red Hills Lake County Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim.

Fruity on the nose with blackberries, blackcurrants, black plums, chocolates, vanilla, spices, oak, licorice, black pepper, tobacco and light alcohol.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, light earth, tobacco, chocolates, light vegetables, mocha, coffee and peppercorn.

Long tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.

This is a very nice Cabernet Sauvignon from California. Showing nice complexity with a great mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle, and better as it opens up. I gave it one hour, initially. After 90 minutes more earth notes come in, both on the nose and palate. Rich, soft, smooth and spicy.

Good by itself or with food. Will pair very nicely with grilled meats or a Burger. I paired it with cheeses and crackers.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$45.
