Lovely mid-level Rioja from one of the truly legendary vintages of the 1900s. After a while this really opened up but Christ it took a good while - basically a day of slow ox and an hour and a bit in the glass. Black cherry and farm soil on the nose with great acidity and balance, thought perhaps a little short. Still, a seriously solid wine.
