A great material is matched by an excellent use of oak. High acidities might turn some off. — 4 years ago
Darker than usual, the aroma is less lively than before but strong backbone material ensures that it is not vapid and vacuous. Less refined and polished than Joblot and Lumpp. — 5 years ago
Straw color. Oak and sider. Rich. Acidic. Dry. Minerally. Sweetness in also behind them. Citrus with slight bitterness. Butter and nuts. 2016 @1350, Eva -, 210703-210720 — 2 years ago
dark red / purple color. The nose on red fruits and vanilla. In the mouth it is quite ripe, the fruit is very present and gives a good attack with spices. The mid-palate misses its mark but the finish compensates with a flattering stint that is a little dry but still pleasant. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. The finish reveals an alcoholic side that stays in the throat. It's good but for $60cad it's a bit expensive I think. I opened a 2017 joblot last week ... it's cheaper and had a lot more complexity and a lot more aging potential. — 3 years ago

A little lean, fruit sadly fading away, still decent but on the decline — 3 years ago
The 2016 L'Empreinte is the debut cuvée of Joblot's blended Givry premier crus. Wearied by all my bitter experience with buying wines in Malaysia, you can imagine my relief when it poured out bright and purple, and the smell of crushed cassis and spice wafted out of the bottle. In the glass, the nose adds intrigue with smokey, meaty aromas and a nice acetic lift. The wine is velvety, ripe and concentrated on the palate, framed by rather obvious wood still, with chewy tannins and lively acids. Finishes with medium length, dominated by plums and earth. Although it doesn't quite hit the spot for me, this was a solid pinot noir especially after a good number of weeks dry. Excellent value for those who like their Burgundy a little less subtle. — 3 years ago

Old-school, not as transparent and dynamic as Joblot, but equally persuasive. — 5 years ago

A big surprise here. Expected a nice, steady Burg but this definitely over delivers. Medium bodied with so, so much fruit on the nose. Raspberries and cherries galore. A touch of blueberry and smoke. Black olives and a hint of mushroom. There’s a really nice tapenade element here that is just splendid.
From a Premier Cru vineyard in Givry in the Côte Chalonnaise and punching well above its weight class. Graceful yet earthy with plenty of refinement and emotion. Silky mouthfeel and very pure. The fruit is dominant on the palate with white pepper, oak, and earth. Truly a wonderful Burgundy. It delivers now but will be even better in a few years. — 2 months ago
