Stone Hill Winery

Chambourcin 2017

Taking a cue from @Severn Goodwin I’m drinking some MO wine, which is made just a few hours from where I live. I had never had anything by Stone Hill prior to this, assuming it wasn’t very good, but I was wrong. This is a great light bodied red and was great with a slight chill. Black and blue fruits, forest floor, and a mineral streak combine with medium + acid and light tannins for an easy drinking, dry, fresh red. I bought a few of this producer’s wines and look forward to trying the others. A pleasant surprise! — 10 days ago

Nice, not had this one yet. Last time I had a Chambourcin it was from PA.

Subduction McCabe’s Brook Marquette 2019

100 % Marquette = non-vinifera jackpot. This my first taste of this often remembered Vermont specialty. Honestly, it taste like a Cab Franc and Chambourcin 50-50 blend!! there is this unique spice profile that comes through in the back half that makes this a compelling food wine. I am pairing this with Vermont cheddars and then fresh salmon burgers with house made tartar slaw :) Color is dark garnet that speaks to a black cherry herbal lozenge…yes, a moderately a viscous mouthfeel. This could be brown bagged as a Bluestone red blend and no one would question it ;) — 6 months ago

Spotsylvania Claret Red Blend

Delicious! Bdx blend w/Chambourcin really adds some personality, very dark opaque ruby w/wild savage nose, forest, herbaceous, medicinal juxtaposed w/dank ripe black/red berry fruit, accented w/vanilla & spice. So Virginia - (could mistake this for Norton) very generous and right in yo face! Smooth rich viscous supple, gobs of fruit w/beautiful harmony & balance on palate. Not for everyone, very extroverted, but for $14 this is insane QPR. — 6 months ago
