Bodegas Tritón

Avante Castilla y León Mencía 2009

One of my favorite grapes, Mencia is sometimes dull and boring. This one is bright and nuanced and complex with a great finish of chocolate, leather and berries. It was also a great deal at my local wine shop — Brands Wine — 10 years ago

Old Vines Tinta de Toro 2014

Triton Tinta de Toro is the oldest clone of Tempranillo in Spain, located in the only Spanish D.O. that completely resisted the phylloxera plague. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, sweet spice and earthy notes, aged in oak for six months. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe plum with licorice and earthy notes. Fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit and earthy spice character. — a year ago
