Lovely rich farmhouse butter and honeydew melon. The latter was very pronounced indeed and dominated the nose for a long time, before the underlying fragrances of cox apples and Scottish mountain heather (from the oak?) poked their heads through. This seems to be a muh debated vintage for premox but I saw no signs of it here, only the faint hint of oxidation desirable in a 20 year old Burgundy. — 9 years ago

Dodge & Cox holiday party. Event planner told me she got a deal on this and boy was it tasty — 12 years ago
I like this better than the first bottle. Dark fruits with big acidity then game, trees, more purple fruits, white pepper, lingering finish of herbs almost oregano with wild berries. So good with food and on its own. Lovely. — 3 years ago
Blend of Golden Russet, Bramley's Seedling, Porter's Perfection and Cox Orange Pippin. Pale white in color, cloudy. Lightly carbonated with fine bubble size. McIntosh like aroma profile. Tangerine flavor with citrus tartness, mixed citric and malic finish. Should go great with food — 9 years ago
Simply awesome. French oak and big fruit and a silky smooth finish. Picked it up at the MI farmers market. Had it with left overs from our trip to chelan (Sorrento's gnocchi and seafood canoli). — 9 years ago
I echo all the comments made, this is simply cracking. Tasmanian Chardonnay at its best, perhaps Tolpuddle has a rival- so restrained like Winx at the 600m mark in a Cox Plate!! Buy it when you see it, it won't last long — 9 years ago
Saignee method, tiny bubbles, earthy, my favorite brut rosé. Drinking & giggling with Camille Cox "the Champagne fox" might have added a .3 to the rating... — 10 years ago
Forlorn Hope is a producer that has received great press of late, the last couple of bottles I tried, I felt vaguely disappointed, given the reviews. Here at last, is a spot-on dry Gewurztraminer from the Russian River Valley, that is exceptionally floral and deliciously concentrated. Orange blossom, jasmine tea, Cox Pippins. Fermented on skins for seven days, it imparts a lot of texture and even some tannins. Tart, with an almost austere quality, finishes with pink grapefruit and candied orange peel. — 11 years ago

Breathless – Blanc de Blancs – Cox Vineyard (Single Vineyard Reserve) – Méthode Champenoise – Organic
Mendocino County, California – USA 🇺🇸
Overview
A beautifully crafted Blanc de Blancs made in the traditional méthode champenoise, sourced from the organic Cox Vineyard in Mendocino County. Produced by Breathless Sparkling Wines, founded by the three sisters Sharon Cohn, Rebecca Faust, and Cynthia Faust, this cuvée reflects the winery’s philosophy of celebrating life’s “breathless moments.” Elegant, artisanal, and fruit-centered, it captures California brightness while honoring Old World technique.
Aromas & Flavors
Fresh brioche, lemon curd, white peach, and crisp green apple, lifted by subtle minerality. Gentle notes of pastry cream, toasted almond, and rising dough show the extended lees contact and classic champagne-inspired craftsmanship.
Mouthfeel
Bright, delicate, and creamy. The mousse is refined and persistent, offering a graceful texture that remains lively from start to finish. A very clean, uplifting acidity shapes a long, refreshing finish.
Food Pairings
Oysters, goat cheese tartlets, shrimp ceviche, sushi, fried tempura, creamy pastas, or delicate white-fish dishes. Also a beautiful aperitif on its own.
Verdict
A genuinely lovely Blanc de Blancs that blends California sunshine with classic French technique. Elegant, aromatic, and refreshing, this is one of the most delightful expressions of méthode champenoise sparkling wine coming out of Sonoma/Mendocino today. A winery with heart behind every bottle.
Did You Know?
Breathless was founded by three sisters, Sharon Cohn, Rebecca Faust, and Cynthia Faust as a tribute to their mother Martha, whose mantra of living life fully inspired both the name Breathless and the joyful label art. Their winemaker, Penny Gadd-Coster, is considered an “honorary fourth sister” and is one of California’s most respected sparkling specialists. — 7 months ago
