A nice fall type day on the deck. This Stags Leap is definitely a nice drinkable chard but just not enough oak for my taste. Probably doesn’t help that I’m enjoying a nice Maduro cigar. Should have gone with a more oaky choice. I do like the acidity and it is fresh. Has a little mineral on the back end which I actually enjoy. I think I would enjoy this more on a warm summer day. Stags always delivers for me but I am just an amateur so just telling what I’m tasting. If you prefer a refreshing chard over deep oak. This is a go to. Enjoy. Made my Saturday evening deck date with my wife very enjoyable. — 5 years ago
Second month of Firstleaf wine club and I received this Merlot. I am not a big Merlot fan usually go for the bigger Cabs with deep earth but this was a very nice change. I paired it with Friday Night Fajiatas! Well balanced with 3/5 in the tannins with nice fruit and a smooth finish. I am not sure how Firstleaf works so not sure if this is a wine that is available readily. It is a nice Merlot at the price and goes well to balance the spice of Friday Fajitas.... if your a pretentious wine drinker ignore the Fajita pairing but it is a good Merlot!!! — 6 years ago
Well it’s been a while and I haven’t rated or shared my thoughts on a wine for some time now. But we are coming into my favorite time of year in New England where I enjoy a fall night out on the deck with a nice cigar and a solid wine. I received this wine as a gift. I’m not naturally drawn to Chianti’s but this may change my mind. Deep, earthy with solid fruit. This Chianti can hold its own next to a nice Maduro Cigar. It has a smoothly velvety finish with strong fruit on the back end. Hints of leather and small spice round off the fruit and make you want for more. Enjoy this to finish your week with a relaxing wine. Suggestion: play some smooth jazz or Sinatra in the background. Nice to be back! 😀 — 3 years ago
Ok.......so I am not a wine expert I just love wine. Usually on a late July evening after a glass or two of a light white with the wife I would pour myself a big beefy cab and settle in to a nice cigar on the deck. Usually a nice Padron 1926 or a Liga Pravada 52. But.......I just received a deliberate from First Leaf and after a day in the wine fridge at 57 degrees (Fahrenheit) I pulled this Dry Rose’. Yum!!!! The tag line on this wine is “an elegant rose’ fit for any occasion” so I went with it and it paid off......it is a wine that would pair well with chicken, salmon or a dish that had a full mouth feel like tomato bruschetta. BUT..... does it hold up the the full earthy haul of blue smoke from a Padron 1926 Anniversario........YES! — 5 years ago

Yum. Usually not a fan of blends but this has proved out to be a nice white blend and deck wine. I’m hearing the rolling thunder off in the distance as I enjoy this white blend of 78% Viognier and 22% Pinot Gris from Paso Robles. It’s a nice blend with hints of white perch and honey suckle with a nice acidity. This is a First Leaf Club offering which I didn’t think I would like but yum yum. If you can find it give it a shot. Would work with fish, chicken or a simple charcuterie on the deck. Again, I am not a pro just say what I feel. ENJOY. — 4 years ago
Just received this in my most recent First Leaf Club delivery. Put it in the wine fridge for the night and pulled it for a Tuesday evening deck date with my wife. Really delivered. Paired with some apps. Cukes and Tomatoes with fresh basil and balsamic. Assorted meats and cheese. We loved it. It has a very balanced acidity with a light body but still had hints of fruit and earth. As well the use and light touch of the Pinot skins provides a light and savory finish of rose petal and stone with a ever so slight hint of mushroom. Yeah I know a little deep for an amateur but I’m trying 😀. What I like about it is solid on the fruit but not too sweet. I’m sure it would be AMAZING with grilled salmon. Enjoy. — 5 years ago

I’m baaaack! I’m sure no one missed me but I’ve been off the app for a while. Lots of life happening. So. Decided to jump back on due to a new to me Rose’ that I discovered. Germans can make wine! This is a wonderful deck wine with all types of food or by itself to celebrate the end of a long day. Everyone has described this wine spot on. For me though I get a slight hint of cinnamon on the end and the acidity is primo with smoked meats or a nice charcuterie! Love finding new gems! Enjoy. PS. I love this super-chilled but it is good at room temp as well. Thanks for putting up with the amateur!!! — 6 months ago
