The 2006 was not cheap back then but compared to the price of current vintages it was an absolute steal! Winemaker John Simes signed the bottle and we were sorry to see it go but it was time to drink up. Polished, sleek and very well put together! Black as pitch, red fruit and plums with a lovely whiff of violets, the palate was redolent with black fruit flavours and silky smooth tannin. Love this wine! It’s not Pieropan but it’s also ten bucks less. Notes of melon and orange zest. Medium bodies with zippy acidity and a slight oiliness. Enjoyed with a bucket of union bay oysters on the half shell. No complaints here! — 3 years ago
