This Rioja sits somewhere between the regular Muga Reserva and the more expensive single vineyard bottlings of Muga. Only produced in good years, it represents excellent value. The 2011 vintage offer ripe berry fruit with well integrated tannins, some chocolate and liquorice notes and a smooth vanilla and tobacco finish. Worth the upgrade from the Reserva. — 8 years ago

Typical Riesling nose. Fantastic peach and tropical fruit notes. Fairly fresh and well balanced for a Spätlese, after 18 years perfect to drink. Lovely long finish. — 7 years ago

Cousiño Macul’s Premium wine, intense black currant notes, chocolate and mint with a vanilla and slightly bitter tobacco finish with some oaky notes. This is a big wine, better decanted and needs some food to compliment it. Modern new world wine, but after over a decade in bottle quite balanced and good to drink now. — 8 years ago
