It's time for Merlot Thursday. This week it is from Israel.

Deep ruby in color with a short purple/ brick rim.

Aromatic nose of blueberries, plums, strawberries, licorice, vanilla, cloves, cedar, leather, vegetables, tobacco, chocolates and peppercorn.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, strawberries, currants, licorice, cloves, herbs, spices, dark chocolates, coffee and peppercorn.

Long finish with firm tannins and tangy cranberries.

This is a very nice Israeli Merlot. Balanced and enjoyable by itself or with food. A fruity Merlot with a tangy finish.

Already showing nice complexity, but still too young. A couple of years in the bottle would be a good idea. Needs an hour to open up properly.

Would pair nicely with BBQ Meats or hard cheeses.

A blend of 82% Merlot and 18% Petit Verdot. Grapes are grown on rocky lime stone, and aged for 24 months in new French Oak barrels. A very small production of only 550 bottles.

14% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$42.
