Delectable - this is a new cuvée for Yarra Yering known as Amphora. Fermented in a 500 litre clayware Amphora. The final Shiraz Cabernet blend was 60/40. Sarah found the Cabernet component from the Amphora was less leafy. The whole amphora exercise was mainly an experiment. Not sure if she will continue with this in future years.

Oct 7th, 2024Medium Ruby in colour. More savoury than fruity aromas to the point of thistles and a touch of wet nappy. Minor notes of Brett (bandaid developing). Same savouriness on the medium weight palate. This wine is a bit of a unicorn being a field blend of Shiraz and 6 other red varieties. Gruyere is actually the name of a subdistrict of the Yarra Valley. Certainly time to drink this. From the normally high quality Yarra Yering.
