Friday fire up for Ringo Starr and his all star band concert!! Double decant (min sediment). An intriguing medium ruby red/purple. On the nose: black cherry, cassis, tobacco. Taste: blackberry, toasted oak, blueberry, minerals, pencil lead...some unresolved tannin..give it just a few years.

Stopped by their beautiful Napa tasting room on a very quiet Sunday morning last week(we were the only one there....friendly, knowledgeable staff). In honor of Yao Ming, here is a quick review of the 3 wines we tasted:
2016 Yao Ming Napa valley cab....2 pt shot inside the paint.
2016 Yao Ming reserve cab...2 pt..three point attempt, but foot on the line.
2016 Yao Ming Howell Mtn cab...3 point, just outside the line...picked up three bottles!

Another disappointing Yao Ming Cabernet Sauvignon. Sickeningly sweet to start, followed by overpowering fruit and earthy flavors. The wine tasted over-manipulated and overdone and was designed to be as bold as possible without any concern for balance.
