Fantastic. So much depth and power and beautiful savory flavors. Reminiscent of wonderful aged Bordeaux.

The ‘Old Vines’ Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from a host of great vineyards in the Columbia and Walla Valleys including their estate vineyard as well as the Sagemoor and Champoux Vineyards. Inky once in the glass, the wine shows creme de cassis, anise, sweet pipe tobacco and tar aromatics that fill the nose. The palate is plush, rich and downright seductive. Mocha, anise, sagebrush and blueberry compote flavors entice. While this is drinking marvelously right now, this will cellar well for the next two plus decades. If enjoying in its youth, be sure to give this beauty at least a two hour decant. Drink 2019-2040- 94

This is a blend of; 87% Cabernet, 10% Petit Verdot and 3% Syrah. On the nose, black cassis, baking spices, smoke, black oil, loamy soils, grilled meats and fresh, dark, fragrant florals. The fruit are beautifully round, rich and gorgeously sexy. Blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, plum, black raspberries and poached strawberries. Sweet dark spices, tobacco, graphite, dry stem, mint, black licorice, dry crushed rocks & loamy soils with a well balanced, structured, elegantly round, rich, long finish. 9.5 with room for more as it bottle ages. Photos of; exterior of their quaint tasting room, their wine dinner lake house used for their dinners, one of their beautiful vineyard and Darcey Fugman-Small and (far right) Rick Small.

Bright ruby-red. Inky aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice, bitter chocolate and graphite. Dense, minerally, sweet and deep, with inky black fruit flavors dominating in the early going. Finishes with broad but surprisingly suave tannins and excellent length. Sweeter than the 2018 version and likely to give pleasure earlier. Here the tannins are plusher and riper but the finish shows a bit of alcoholic warmth (this is the only one of these reds that admits to 15% on the label). (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, December 2020)

16.7 ABV! Took two hours or so for the dark fruit to take over and turn this from a hot oaky mess and into an enjoyable wine. Big, dark, chewy, and 70 sec finish. But still that 16.7 hangs around and knocks this down a bit for me.
