An extremely impressive effort, this Malbec is binged in a style Californian to the core, rejecting the more sharp and tangy acids of Argentina for a Cabernet like approach, with rich velvety chocolate and cherry flavors and a lingering coffee ground finish. A bit sedimented, it benefited from some time in a decanter with a punt.

Berry jam, wet cigar, sweet wet oak, cinnamon. 13.8 alc but still has spice & bit of heat on the finish.

The uneven and troubled 2011 California vintage yields yet another mixed bag of a Bordeaux varietal. While complex and rich, it has a bit too much caramel oak to compensate for its fruit shortcomings. Not a bad wine but not worth the price tag. I shall let my second bottle lay down for a year to see if these deficiencies shake out with aging.

The nose on this is a combo of a womans perfume and a hot woman smoking a cigar. Make sense? Good. Very herbaceous, heavy on notes of cilantro and wheat grass. I wasn't offended, intrigued but wldn't buy.

Drinking the 2007 in 2015, and it is definitely at its sweet spot. Excellent wine.
