This is such a great Mosel Pinot. Sour cherries, violets on the nose and some darker cherries and spice with moderate air but the palate is a showstopper. Sweet red cherries, such freshness and bursting with flavor and that rare tiny berry fruit intensity. Just so luscious and succulent. The energy of this wine is incomparable. Really lovely and sweet tannin.

Apr 9th, 2025Stunning nose of xmas spice, dried honey, dried tree bark, slate, dried leaves and smells like old school volnay from the 70’s. Love it. Palate is young and needs air but it’s all there. A tight core of sweet/sour bright cherry fruit and lovely juiciness with a firm mineral spine and terrific depth. Amazing structure and the fruit is so classy and deep. Awesome fine grained tannins and so supple. Accessible now but in need of age and air to flesh it out more. I’ll be back.
as this airs it reveals its massive core of lean cherry fruit that has a sweet tartness and the stunning classic Vosne like spice that always develops in Spatet Veit with air or age.
