So, a friend of ours bought a bottle of the 1998 vintage and kept it cellared for decades. He wrote on the back of the bottle his original tasting notes; honey, thick apricot, 94/100.
This weekend, we sampled it several times. It still seems to show notes of apricot, pear, honey, and a bit of botritus. A dark gold color and slightly onctuous mouth feel.
Frankly, it's not a big improvement from 25 years, but it's still a drinkable, semisweet wine. More like 89/100 at this point.
We had this wine with savory snacks and also with sweet desserts. I wish we had more friends sampling it, and I didn't still have some leftover in the bottle.
