Very dark purple core. The nose was reminiscent of Côte de Beaune (Santenay, perhaps) with pronounced funk and earthiness along with ripe berries and chalk. Very high acidity, cherries, and strawberries with slick texture on the palate. *Wow! Improved tremendously over night. Showing almost Northern Rhone Syrah like quality. What a beauty!
