Frauenberg Riesling

Wow. Smells like wet limestone. Palate is all rocks.

Superb showing. Energetic and wide open. Tangy and long. Crisp and juicy with a lovely honeyed nougat element throughout. Awesome 2020 icing texture and awesome purity. Long, chiseled and deep.

A little reductive on open. Green fruit, good balance as this opens.

Spicecake. Refinement. Mineral. Honey, honeysuckle. My goodness. Elite. Umami. Wow. That is thrilling. This is Kate Moss heroin chic Frauenberg. Stunning.

This is salty, elegant and sappy. Very pure and showing so so well. Wonderful. What length. 9.7 out of the gates.

Have not had in a minute. Checking in. Nose is glorious. Honey and herbs. Tree bark. Wild flowers. Gorgeous. Wow. Superb nerve and energy with tremendous finesse and elegance. Really an ethereal Frauenberg. Doesn’t have quite the depth of later vintages (16/17/18/19) but this is a wonderful skinny tie of a wine. Outrageous complexity and so elegant and nimble. This is in a great spot. Lovely finish. Drink if you got don’t see this getting better. Notes of honey and caramel nougat on the nose now as this opens up. Gorgeous purity. Structure develops more with air.

Terrific. In a great almost ideal place now. Nose is apricot, honey, candied lemon, spices, citrus, salt, so so aromatic. Big fruit skin energy as well. Also earthy, confectionary and gamey. Just so so complex. Palate is just pure harmony. Not a hair out of place and long saline finish with apricot skin that lingers. Stunning purity. So pretty. Really lingers. A knockout.

Have not had since end of December 2018. Amazing nose. Honeysuckle, god level airiness and minerals. Brown sugar. Huge apricot. So precise. So clear. So precise. So layered. Like a Riesling drop. Lemon. It’s superbly complex. New nuances every minute. Honeycomb. Elite. Wow. This is so electric. Amazing purity, depth and finesse. Such elegance. Honeyed but so lithe and fresh. Drop dead. Juicy. So clean. Fruit is apricot and peach. But best ones you’ve ever had. Energy and minerality for days. Concentrated and sappy. Beautiful minerals and inner mouth florals. Superbly impressive structure and sap. A baby but finally coming out of it’s shell. Thrilling wine.

Wow. Battenfeld 18 is incredible. Stunning levels of complexity and flavor intensity like nothing else. Amazing depth here that is a another level. 18 seems like a breakthrough vintage here. This is a higher level than 15/16/17 which was the previous triad of breakthroughs. Honey, creamy, tangelo, opulent, herbal, mineral, enticing swimming pool, bitter caramel, nougat, vanilla, just insane. Lime as well. Palate is immaculate. Opulent and super chiseled. The juxtaposition on these Battenfeld 18’s is remarkable. Juicy and complex with just amazing depth, energy and precision. So long, ethereal and opulent and juicy. It sizzles on the finish. Amazing mouthfeel and honeyed yet so dry and fresh. This is a beast but an elegant and flavorful beast. Young but not inaccessible but will get better over 10-12 years.
