Wayne Gretzky Estates
No. 99 Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark ruby in color with a dark reddish / brick rim.
Soft nose of blueberries, black plums, light wood, vegetables, cherries, earth, leather and black pepper.
Medium plus in body and smooth, with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, sweet raspberries, tobacco, herbs, oak, toast, vanilla, licorice, cloves, bitter vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Medium on the finish with soft tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a nice surprise. A collectible wine, especially if you are Canadian or a hockey fan 😃.
This 5 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from the Central Coast of California, is still drinking nicely. Not fully balanced, but smooth and enjoyable by itself or with food.
Spicy with nice complexity. Doesn't have much longer in it, so if you have any drink up.
Needs an hour to open up, but much better after 2 hours, as it is too acidic right out of the bottle.
Thank you David and Elvira for sharing this wine with me.
I paired it with cheeses and crackers, but it paired really well with the fatty brie cheese.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
87 Points.
$18.

A little disappointed. Purchased from WTSO but expected more based on their description. Underwhelmed.

Sep 4th, 2015Just a very agreeable and drinkable. Wine. Sorry I only bought 4 bottles. I figured the great one would not add his name to something putrid.. And I was right!
