Deep rich fully-bodied red. Oak, kir, and berries rise to greet. Starts sharp, with punching acidity and strong astringency. The mouthfeel opens up by mid palate, turning comfortably velvety and revealing cassis, figs, stale coffee and thick perfumed hookah smoke. The finish has a piney quality (like licking untreated wood), and a touch of mint that counters a yummy and persistent black cherry background. The two dimensionality of the tannins is what keeps this from really shining. Great value, good cab.
