We never drink stuff like this, but we needed something and it went with dinner and it was in the cellar. I could lie and say it's in tribute to the man's recent passing, but I'm more cold hearted than that. Still a little young, with raw brambly fruit and cocoa dominating the nose, but a it's lively and harmonious mouthful of herbs, camphor and fresh dark berries. Lighter bodied for what it is, tannins right where they oughta be, and almost integrated acid that drives a long, savory finish. Really good with stracci and venison ragu. Thanks to the legendary Jimmy D for the gift. It got a send off of which you'd very much approve.
