From the best of times to the worst of times, wine gets better with Swiss time! Hundred percent Merlot from the Southern Part of The Swiss Canton of Ticino, known for its limestone soil. There is a nice “forever young” medium ruby hue at first glance. The aromas are abundant with plum, blackberry, some cherry, fig as well; also get some cream and vanilla scents. On the pallet it is a delight with more plum and cherry immediately apparent; some chocolate, light coffee notes, and the slightest hint of bay leafs as well. On the mouth it has that velvet texture at first lips touch; it is surprisingly full and rich, the tannings are supple, the acidity is firm (for a change) with medium high alcohol and a very decent finish. Absolutely love well made Merlot and this is the perfect example, pricy and hard to get, but still perfect.

PS Funny thing, when “the bug wine” bites you! It bit me a long long time ago, but it takes time to learn, appreciate and afford wine that truly changes you. Obtained this bottle by another wine lovers recommendation; always knew it was going to be great, but timing is of the essence when it comes to bottles cared for and properly cellared. They’re opened when they’re opened! Cheers.
