Pale to mid Gold. Honeycomb, Quince with Apricot and a Charcoal note - wonderful aromatics which kept changing. Incredibly flavoursome with a creamy texture on the palate even though no oak ageing. Cumquat jam and apricot notes. A kaleidoscope of vibrant delicious flavours. Made from the little known Timorasso grape in Piedmont. Walter Massa was the saviour of this grape when much Timorasso was grubbed out in favour of the less troublesome Cortese to produce bulk quantities of the ubiquitous Gavi. They now grow the last few hectares of Timorasso in the world with minimal intervention, wild yeasts and no chemicals. Seek a bottle out for an exciting vinous journey. One of the 1001 Wines.

This was a fascinating Italian White from Piemonte. This is 100% Timorasso a varietal that was rescued from near obscurity by Walter Massa. It’s native and unique to the Colli Tortonesi. In the past many growers were ripping out Timorosso and planting the more prolific and boring Cortese (Gavi). Thank God for Massa once you taste this. Mid Gold in colour. Rich and textural with notes of fruit salad and honey. Apparently aged versions show petrol like aged Riesling. Amazingly zero new oak. On the palate an absolute fruit salad of flavours with a note of guava. Medium Acid. A flat out delicious wine which I will definitely seek out in the future. Could keep this in the short term but irresistible now. Bought at Roscioli in Rome @Ceccherini Cristiano - your old haunt as a sommelier. One of the 1001 Wines.

So mindful of the producer to have all the information in braille printed on the label!

Second best bottle of white whine I've ever had. Very obscure. Drank it in Mombaruzzo, Italy with my wife. If you ever see it, but it! PS. Still tracking down my first favorite bottle. :)
