This wine was sexy as hell! 1961 vintage and still showing supple strawberry and rich red currant. Fresh crushed rosemary, dusty earth, leather and iron. Poured crystal clear with a pale but very vibrant garnet. Opened up with air beutiful dried red fruit and herbal perfume carried by that savory earthy undertone. We should all be so lucky to age as gracefully as this did

Just a tad less vibrant than the Latour. Brilliant comparison side by side. Less definition, power & poise, but still a fantastic tasting wine. Full with finesse and elegance in the foreground.

Figured I would get back into the swing with a little 61 get together we had. This was a perfectly stored bottle with perfect provenance I acquired 5 years ago. Amazing. Took about an hour to open up. Dried blackberries, and blueberry liqueur with wonderful herbal notes. Awesome

At Hof de Cattebeke. Two 375ml. Bottles combined. Beautiful! A sweetness still to the fruit, that sense of the clay and limestone soils. Beautifully aged, still has great structure and a lovely textural quality. A hint of rust, which I love. Floral, rose petal potpourri. That earthy, humus character. A freshness still. WOW!! Thank you, Jacques and Fiona. 🙂
