Upper Eden Wines
Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir

Trying to get to know some of the wines my friends recommended from Trader Joe’s. I liked a French Sauvignon Blanc they recommended but this wine, while solid just wasn’t my fave. It’s interesting and surprisingly complex for a Cali Pinot but I don’t love the—stemminess?—I’m getting. I used to call it that vine-y taste. If you like some green on your wine though it could be your bag. It’s affordable and interesting and may just be YOUR cat’s meow. Figuratively speaking. Don’t give your cat vino.

Easy drinking Pinot. Slight pepper notes to finish.

Was really excited to try this one. Unfortunately I didn't love it. It was good. Would I rush out to buy it again? No. But I'm glad I tried it.

Rating is for the 2023 vintage bought at TJ’s. A Pinot from Santa Lucia Highlands (Monterey County) tends to be in the style of a French Burgundy, so it is not very fruit forward. Don’t expect all sorts of fruit flavors. Instead expect a well balanced medium body wine that will compliment your meal. I’ve always been found of SLH Pinots. Although the Upper Eden is not an all time favorite, it was very enjoyable and a good price at around $15.

Cute bottle but don’t love the taste. Light but butter, green pepper, more earthy

Light body but full of flavor. Perfect when chilled. Light maroon color, light aroma, light to medium body, dry on the palate but full of flavor. Wouldn't have as a go-to but would be great on a hot day. TJ $12-13

Light, not a ton of flavor, but very drinkable and pleasing. A solid any time choice.
