I'm lead to believe that this is generally a blend of many Abruzzo local varietals but this is 100% Montepulciano. Ripe fruit character in abundance with plum and black cherry being the leaders of the pack. Christmas cake, nutmeg, old oak and some raisin character too. The ripe plum carries through in the palate with some sweet brown spice not really identifiable. Despite being quite the pleasure to drink the wine does she a lot of alcohol for what it is, sitting at 13.5%. Tannin drops off fairly quickly, yet still grippy and show some bite, the acid hangs around and unfortunately so does the alcohol.
