Aug 2nd, 2019Graphite, red currants, and dried flowers. William Allen does a terrific job making wines showing a true sense of place. Strawberries galore on the palate. A tad bit fleshier than the ‘14, but the acidity is still there.

A fun quaffer in the glou mode. Good fruit, but equally influenced by stems; tea, clove and fallen leaves balance it out nicely. Refreshing and not too heavy 🍓🫖🍂

Really liked this wine and I wish I'd written down why. I remember it as a good alternative to a gamay.

Aromatics are wonderfully evocative—black brambly fruit, leaf piles, wet asphalt on a foggy, drizzly fall morning while your neighbor has the smoker going. Cranberry and tea notes. Fine, but hefty tannins that settle on the center of the tongue and hang for a while, cashmerelike. Could do worse for a midday tipple.
